Michael Burgess joined Western Sydney University in February 2016 as the Chief Student Experience Officer and brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in complex consumer environments. Michael is a creative innovator with extensive experience in business strategy, customer experience, marketing communications, digital strategy, brand development and data analytics.
From 2008-2015 he was the General Manager, Marketing at Weight Watchers Australia & New Zealand and between 2005-2008, Head of Corporate Strategy at NRMA Motoring and Services, initially starting as Head of Marketing in 2001. These roles provided Michael with invaluable insights into the marketing sector and business leadership.
Michael joined the University at a critical time, when the core goal underpinning the University’s Securing Success 2015-2020 Strategic Plan is to be a distinctively student-centred University. Michael is championing this goal and providing the vision and leadership to transform and enhance their students’ experience.

Liz Dietz has over 30 years of experience in designing, building, marketing and supporting innovative software solutions for the Higher Education, K-12 and learning market. Liz is currently a Workday Fellow and former Vice President of Product Management and Strategy at Workday where she was responsible for the strategy and design of the Workday Student suite of products.
Prior to joining Workday, Liz served as Vice President for Higher Education at CedarCrestone, establishing their Higher Education Workday practice. Before joining CedarCrestone in 2010, Liz was the General Manager of edu1world.org, a SaaS enterprise social media site for higher education. Liz was also President and Chief Executive Officer for Xap Corporation, a SaaS internet content and technology company that builds and hosts College Access Portals.
Prior to joining Xap, Liz was a VP/General Manager for PeopleSoft, managing the Campus Solutions Product Division. In 1997 Liz joined PeopleSoft via the acquisition of Campus Solutions, where she was a founding partner of the software and consulting company that developed PeopleSoft’s Student Administration software products.
Liz also spent over 10 years at University of California, Los Angeles and Loyola Marymount University where she was responsible for designing, developing and implementing student information systems, as well as serving 2 years as Associate Director, Financial Aid.
