[McLean, Virginia, 31 August 2023] – Higher Digital, a leading company focused on digital transformation in the higher education sector, is pleased to announce its engagement with Peninsula Bridge, a California-based nonprofit organization that empowers under-resourced students to achieve college and career success. By hiring two software developers through Peninsula Bridge’s internship program, Higher Digital demonstrates its commitment to aligning with transformative organizations, leaders and students dedicated to improving access, affordability and success.

As part of its mission, Peninsula Bridge strives to help a generation of students overcome challenges, enabling more individuals from diverse backgrounds with limited resources to access quality education. Higher Digital wholeheartedly endorses this vision and looks forward to being a small part of Peninsula Bridge’s efforts in achieving its goals.

A recent example of this support has been the hiring of talented interns from Peninsula Bridge into Higher Digital’s development team. These bright and driven students have brought fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the table, especially around the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the early stages of software platform development. The experience has been mutually rewarding, as interns gained valuable industry insights while contributing meaningfully to Higher Digital’s projects.

“Interning with Higher Digital was an amazing opportunity, as everyone welcomed the ideas I brought forward,” shared Karla Sanchez, a fourth-year student at the University of Redlands, working towards her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science. “I learned about workflow management best practices while providing my expertise in AI integration for the Higher Digital platform and gained valuable advice on navigating my career from everyone on the team. While short, my internship with Higher Digital boosted my confidence in myself and in the future of AI.”

Luis Mendoza Ramirez, a third-year student working towards his Bachelor’s of Science degree at Claremont McKenna College, agreed, saying, “I had a valuable learning experience at Higher Digital this summer. The fast-paced start-up environment challenged me to improve my coding, problem-solving and communication skills which will benefit me in my future endeavors. Collaborating with developers globally to advance the project was enjoyable and helped me grow personally and professionally.”

“We are thrilled to join forces with Peninsula Bridge in their pursuit of expanding access and increased success for motivated but under-resourced students,” said Wayne Bovier, co-founder and CEO at Higher Digital. ” We enjoyed engaging with Luis and Karla, our two interns, who worked to create and integrate AI technology analyzing and benchmarking strategic plans into the foundation of our software platform.” “At Peninsula Bridge, we know that education holds the power to create meaningful change for students, their families, and their greater community. Every student deserves a chance to fulfill their potential without being held back by financial constraints or other obstacles. We are deeply committed to providing our scholars with the support and resources they need to overcome any challenges and thrive in both school and life.” said Randi Shafton, Executive Director at Peninsula Bridge. “We are thrilled to partner with organizations like Higher Digital, who share our commitment to educational access and equity. Together, our collective efforts can create a ripple effect, benefiting not only individual students but society as a whole.”

In today’s rapidly evolving world, education plays a pivotal role in shaping the future. Higher Digital and Peninsula Bridge share a commitment to cultivating an inclusive environment that fosters learning, creativity, and innovation. By collaborating, they aim to build bridges between education, technology, and communities to inspire positive change and drive societal progress.

Higher Digital’s software platform is an important tool often used within the (SEA)change™ consulting services the team delivers to higher ed institutions focused on digital transformation and change management. As this software moves closer to launch, those interested as potential users or design partners can schedule a meeting with Higher Digital representatives at EDUCAUSE in Chicago, IL in October here.
